Hi, I'm Michelle
My Story
I didn't grow up around animals. Not even a little. So it genuinely surprises people when I tell them I spent nearly a decade as a military veterinary technician — working in clinics across multiple duty posts, assisting in surgeries, performing dental cleanings, taking X-rays, giving vaccinations, triaging emergencies, and caring for stray animals at a shelter that fell under our clinic's responsibility.
From 1998 to 2007 I served as a military veterinary technician. I worked with military working dogs, government horses, and the family pets of service members stationed across the country. At one point I managed the second largest military working dog facility in the nation. These were elite animals — highly trained, impeccably cared for, and absolutely extraordinary. Working with them every day shaped everything I know about what optimal dog health and care actually looks like.
I didn't get dogs of my own until after I completed my military service. I wanted to wait until I could give them the stable, loving home they deserved. When I finally did — I came equipped with nearly a decade of professional veterinary knowledge and an overwhelming amount of love to give.
My dogs captured my heart so completely that it made me more compassionate for every animal I encounter outside my home. Now when I meet a dog whose owner just doesn't know what they don't know — about nutrition, health signs, prevention, proper care — I feel a responsibility to help. Because some owners genuinely want to do right by their animals. They just need someone to show them how.
That's why I built this site.
The Dogs Who Made Me Who I Am
Every tool, every article, every piece of advice on this site was shaped by these four. They are the reason this exists.
Why This Site Exists
My dogs captured my heart so completely that it made me more compassionate for every animal I encounter. I built ourlove4dogs.com because some owners genuinely want to do right by their dogs — they just don't always know how. Everything here is my way of sharing what I learned in nearly a decade of professional veterinary care, and what four extraordinary dogs taught me about love.
